Dual-Boot's Boot.ini

Chuck

I have two hard drives each with two partitions. On my "C" drive I have
Windows 98 and I installed WinXP Pro on my "E" drive. I have decided to use
XP exclusively and am going to format my "C" drive so as to do a clean
install. The thing is, until I get the XP on my "C" drive set-up properly
and all my programs loaded (and download all the updates and service packs -
dial-up - ugg) I want to keep access to the running XP on my "E" drive. So
this is what I plan to do (I would appreciate feed back as to whether this
will work or not) I will boot into WinXP on "E", format my "C" drive, then
restart and boot my computer from the CD-ROM to install XP to the "C" drive.
Then add a new Boot.ini file to the "C" drive to enable dual-boot. Does this
sound like it will work ???
And if it does the following is a copy of my present Boot.ini file:
[boot loader]
timeout=15
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Pro" /fastdetect
C:\="Windows 98 SE"

How should I change it so that it will offer the two instances of WinXP???

Any Assistance would be greatly appreciated

There are hidden files on C: drive that control WinXP on E: drive,
if you format C: drive you will lose WinXP on E:.

Best bet is to delete Win98 and the rest of installation on C:
from WinXP .

Thanks, so should I just do a deltree *.* from a command
prompt or go to explorer and delete all the files? Also
what about the boot.ini file? Will XP write another one
when (I go to install it on my "C" drive or what?
