LOL nice to see my predictions verified each day....

I have said that 18% of Vista users will dual boot with XP and use XP
instead of vista, because vista is crapista..
It would be more.. but most people dont even know that this is possible or
how to do it!

The steps are easy IF the laps site provide the drivers for XP (not all do).
1) Create new parition with a partition manager like acronis
2) install XP on the new parition
3) Do one of the following to restore the vista bootloader:

a)Boot into XP and reinstall the vista bootloader with this free app
http://www.vistabootpro.org/

OR

b) Use the vista dvd to repair the vista bootloader so that xp and vista
will be listed.

Yes but what about those restore points ???

simple.. the user who will be able to chose to work on Vista or XP will
never work on vista again! ha!

Seriously now.. I think MS blundered big time with this issue.. and it did
it on puprpose.. MS doesnt really want people to dual boot...

they want one OS per machine and that would be an MS os not linux...

Windows Vista does everything Windows XP can do....
only better! Take a little time to learn Windows Vista
and you'll see for yourself. Attempting to dual-boot
Windows XP with a preinstalled version of Windows
Vista is not recommended.

forget about vista forever!

Carey,

Can you tell me then please what I should do because Pro Tools still does
not work on Vista and I NEED IT. I also have several thousand dollars in
waves plugins and programs that I can't afford to update and that don't work
in Vista. What do you recommend?? besides going back in time and kicking my
own ass before I was dumb enough to have it installed?

If I were in your situation, I would purchase a
new hard drive and a "full version" of Windows
XP Professional (if you do not have an unused license).
Remove the current hard drive that has Windows Vista
installed and then install the new hard drive. Then
proceed to install Windows XP:

Thank you Carey; at last a simple, effective answer to my 17 months of hell
with Vista Business, and I get to put an axe through the Vista infected hard
drive.
Now if only I could sue Microsoft for selling an operating system unfit for
purpose.
