dual boot XP and 2000 pro onto second partition

I have a currupt xp home on laptop. can i install 2000 pro on second partition to get it to boot so i can get the data off?
(BTW, if i try to repair xp, it doesn;t work , and re-install states that user files will be erased etc...) i just want to get the my docs files off of the box before a clean install....
 
Neal, you can try a parallel install of WinXP if you have the WinXP CD.
Though the article talks about Win2K it applies to
WinXP as well.
