I have two drives, both with Windows 2000.

Is it possible to have a program that will allow me to pick which drive to
boot from on start-up?

George

Yes, either a stand alone boot manager, or the boot manager in windows.
See Multiple boot in Windows Help.

It appears I can now view the postings. I went to Help/Multiple Boots and
read a lot of info, but it never told how to set up a boot manager. At one
point it mentioned going to Control Panel/Systems/Advanced Tab, then click on
Startup and Recovery, then it says:
Under System startup, in the Default operating system list, click the
operating system you want to start if you do not select one from the list
displayed during startup.
I only show Windows 2000 because both drives have Windows 2000. I guess my
question is what do I do for the computer to ask if I want to boot up on
drivce C: or Drive D; (both being Windows 2000)?
Thanks
George

Add the second installation to the boot.ini file and see if you can boot
it. Post the contents of your boot.ini file here and someone will
suggest changes to allow dual booting. The boot.ini file is a hidden
system file so you will have to go in the folder options and unhide it.
Tell us if the second installation is on a separate physical hard disk
or if it is only on a different partition on the same disk. Also, tell
us if the computer has a diskette drive, not a necessity but a safety
measure if you are going to play with multi booting and the boot.ini
file, in case you muck things up.

You may already have the ability to select your startup device via your system's
BIOS. I have an AMIBIOS (American Megatrends) which offers an optional menu that
is selected by pressing the F11 key during startup . The menu allows one to
select which device to boot from. This will not circumvent the Windows dual-boot
routine.

Check the options of your system's BIOS.

If they're actually 2 seperate drives and one drive is from another
machine, forget it, won't work.
Or, they were *removable* drives installed to the same machine and now
you are trying to boot while both are inserted, forget it, don't waste
your time.

Good News.
I have Phoniex Award BIOS and if I had taken the time to read at bootup, it
stated, press the F9 key to select your operating disc.
It works great now, thanks for all the help.
