I'm just trying to get some ideas right now. I really haven't decide on what
I'm going to do. Anyway, I'm thinking about building a dual boot system with
Windows XP on one partition and Windows 95, for older DOS games, on another
partition. I want to be able to use the same graphics card, sound card, etc.
on both operating systems. That is I don't want to have to install one card
for XP and have to use a different card for Windows 95. Can this be done? I
know that the graphics card will require a certain amount of memory and a
certain type of processor but does the type of operating system matter?

As long as there are drivers for both OS's avalible. I'd think you'd have
better luck with win98SE and XP as OS's for this use.

Its easy to set up. You just install win98 first in one partition and
then install WIN XP last. Then WIN XP automatically creates a
mult-boot menu.

The only problem as the other poster said - youll probably find WIN98
drivers for most of the lower end cards not sure about the really high
end cards or how good they are - but not WIN95. Not sure if theyll
work OKunder win95.

I know NVDA cards still lost WIN 98.

better than w95 use w98SE (w95 use only Agp1x mode!)

The problem with win95 is that you will need to "patch" it to get it to run
on most of the fast cpu's.
I'd just use at least two partitions...then install win98 first
then XP...as it will dual boot by default.

also note...though you can boot to real dos in win98...
some of your old dos games still will not work right...merely due to a
faster cpu

I used to use Win 98SE and Win XP Pro on a Celery 800 with 256MB SD-RAM and
it worked really well.
If you have drivers for your hardware that support both operating systems
you shouldn't have any major worries.

Good luck!
