I have 4 partitions, as follows (sata drive)

a) 11GB, b) 11GB, c) 20GB, d) 88GB

I have 'acb' for OS and 'd' for storage. I installed XP64 on 'b', and than
Vista64 on 'c' When i rebooted I was not prompted for what OS i would like
to enter. I check my boot entires and only Vista was in there. So I don't
know why XP has disapeared it is still clearly on the drive. I tried to
remedy with with BCDEDIT, only to get the message "The boot configuration
data store could not be opened. Access is denied." I do have all admin
privs.. its the admin account.

While I would like to know why bcdedit does not work, my major concern is
installing XP than VISTA is supposed to work fine as long as you do it in
that order. Any suggestions on what is going on here??

See my postings of 28th and 29th for how the boot files need to be organised
and modified to recover an XP dual boot.

Let us know:
Did it work (boot OK) with Xp on C and X64 on D ?
And THEN you installed Vista and now it's bad ?
Or did you have XP, and installed X64 then installed Vista
without trying X64 ?
Are you sure that you did not choose UPGRADE for Vista ?

What bootinfo is on C: ?
Do you see ntldr , ntldr.xp , .rnd and ntdetect.com, ntdetect.xp.com
in C:\ ? boot.ini ? hidden BOOT folder ?
As for BCDedit , dload Vistabootpro from
http://www.vistabootpro.org/intro.php
