Dual boot problem

I cannot select the earlier version when the computer boots. If selected,
the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I have to shut the computer and
open Vista.

More information on how you installed Vista would be helpful. What steps
did you take to install Vista? Did you install Vista onto a separate
partition or hard drive?

Jane,
I have the same problem. I installed Vista as an upgrade to Windows XP Pro
on a Thinkpad T60. I had one problem during installation: A window stated
that MW07 could not be found, after trying again and also searching for the
file I hit "cancel" in the window. I should also point out that the upgrade
took approximately 3 hours not including the research on the error.

I want access to XP because I have found that:
1) I cannot access my data which is on a logical drive that is encrypted on
the fly using IBM utilities.
2) Acronis Disk Director will not run
3) Norton Internet Security has issues (Vista warned me about this one)
4) IE 7 requires multiple refreshes in order to display about 50% of the
pages I try to access.
5) The Thinkpad configuration utility will not run.

Regards
Ken

Ken, if you installed Vista as an upgrade, then your XP is gone for ever.
The only way to revert to XP would be to reformat and clean install XP. A
dual boot scenario would have entailed installing Vista to a separate
partition on your hard drive, or to a second hard drive. Upgrading to Vista
from XP totally wipes out XP. You cannot roll back or uninstall Vista.

In addition to Jane's comment, as the GetReady page told you before you
started, the only way to recover to XP is a clean installation of XP.
