Windows XP Dual boot OS - two discs

I'm new to PCReview so not sure if I am posting this in the right place.

I have two discs - one SATA, one ATA.
I first installed Windows 2000 Server on the ATA.
XP was then installed on the SATA.

I get the screen where you are offered a choice of OSs to boot from but when I make the selection the screen goes blank.

Help!!! Any ideas?
 
It’s not advised to have 2 o/s on one machine; I would format both and reinstall xp on the SATA drive

Further info on this can be provided if needed
