Hi,

I am trying to setup a dual boot off of an external HD.
When I boot from the disk I am not seeing the option to
format the removable media or install to the new external
HD. How should I perform this installation?

thanks in advance

How is this external hard drive connected? Is it IDE or SCSI or
something else? It may be as simple as you need to load drivers for the
controller for this drive. You would press F6 when booting from Windows
2000 CD and supply floppy disk with drivers when prompted.

It is actually a External Maxtor drive connected by a USB
line.

I do not believe that Windows includes drivers for USB hard drives
during install. You would need to load 3rd party party drivers if any
are available.

MB would have to support boot from USB drive, look at your
boot options

Possible that boot from USB is not supported in your system.
