I'm new at this. Forgot to include my email address in
last post.
As result of quarantining virus "trojan.gema" I lost the
file "dsxty.exe"

Windows XP pro tells me this when I boot up.

Is the file needed? PC seems to run ok without it, but
would like to know how to restore.

That file is the virus. Open Start/Run and type: msconfig and press OK.
Click the Start Up tab and look for a reference to the file there. When you
find it, remove the check mark from that entry.
