DST - Updated?

I thought one of the updates in Feb. was for DST??? I checked my updates last
nite, and that is what it said, so hopefully I am set, cause this is making
me just a tad nuts!! LOL I'll check it out though. Enjoy your day!!

Yes i was up to date with DST but i wasn't sure if the last patch tuesday
took care of that. And its just a quick check to see if you are OK. Enjoy

I ran it and it came back and said it couldn't install as it has either been
installed or a newer version is installed? Oh well, I guess it is ok.
Computer savy I am not, so I'll let it be. Thanx, and enjoy the day...:-)

if you pick "save" instead of run when it asks you to install the update- it
will come up with a message when you try to execute it, that it is already
installed and you do not need to do a thing
I tested it that way also

Oh ok, I can do that later. I guess my computer is ok, HOPEFULLY!! LOL

I need to e-mail you soon about the AVG thing also, cause after all this DST
thing is over, we are thinking of getting the paid version of the Anti virus,
and want to make sure I set it up properly. Don't think I need the Spyware,
as Spywareblaster and my firewall seem to be doing just fine the past 9
months. TTYL...:-)

Thanx for the advice as well!!!

Well I did it the "save" way, and saved it to C drive, but got no message,
yet if I look in C drive, it is there twice. Now I am totally confused.???

I wound up deleting the thing in C. It was named KB931 836-x86-ENU.exe

I reran it with just run, and it came back fine, saying the same thing it
did first time. For now I am just leaving well enough alone, before I mess
something up.

when you saved it did you put it on the desktop or to a "download" folder.
If you did not look where to save it, it might have put it in C: because it
had no idea where to put it because you did not tell it where to go.

what is in C: is the executionary file that you would normally double click
to run. If you did this 2x it would give you 2 copies.

Yes I saved it to C, but must have started it elsewhere before I did the C. I
did it again to desktop and ran it, no problem. I'll remember about the no
spam thing. Do you put -no spam, or just the words no spam?

Talk with ya soon...:-)

Just got this email from Microsoft and its a way to check to see if your
computer is updated for Daylight Savings Time. Select your OS - when
prompted
(run) again when prompted (run) if your up to date you will be told in
message.

Is there a way to verify if my system is DST ready without running an
..exe file? I have Automatic Updates enabled, set to install at a specific
time. I would think that update is already installed on my computer.

Hello History Fan,

Control Panel -> Add or Remove -> Check the box (Show Updates), now look for
Update for Windows XP (KB931836)

Thanks. This update was installed on my system on Feb. 21st.

So - open windows update and select history in the left panel--and see if it
is listed.

If you want to be really safe, look up the KB article by number, and find
the information about how to manually verify whether the patched files are
on your system, and do that.

Or--try using a different mechanism to verify that the patch is in place.
Microsoft Baseline Security analyzer is a good choice--
