Hi. If anyone can help I'll give you... a lot of respect and appreciation!

- the connect FROM computer is a Sympatico (Canada) DSL connection behind a router, didn't mess with the router settings, tried with ZoneAlarm off, tried with XP Firewall off, restarted with those off.

- the connect TO computer is a CABLE connection, no router, kinda weird though because it uses this adaptor (CATC NetMate Link) that connects from the cable modem to the PC via USB (no ethernet card?), turned on Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop (in Control Panel/System), tried with ZoneAlarm off, allowed port 3389 (Remote Desktop) for XP firewall, tried with XP firewall off, found real ip address using "www.showmyip.com"... what's left??

Please help! Thanks.

Is the router on the DSL side allowing TCP port 3389 traffic? Can you telnet
from the DSL side to the cable side over TCP port 3389?

Hi. I will try opening up port 3389 on the router, but how do I test this by "telnetting"? Do I need to do anything to the remote PC to telnet? Thanks for the advice!

No... Open up a command prompt and type in "telnet ipaddress 3389"
where you replace ipaddress with the public IP address of the Remote
Desktop server.
