I am looking at using DSL service and the provider says their gateway has a
firewall installed. I don't know how good it is, but will I have any
conflict with that and the firewall XP provides?

Thanks,
Jack

Jack -

Their FW protects their gateway and their inhouse network, but it will
not offer you protection unless you are behind that firewall. I
assuming you are either at work or home, but not behind their FW on
their network. And the XP firewall is considered by many to be rather
weak since it does monitor or offer controls for outgoing traffic. So
if you enable the XP firewall or install a router or FW, there should
not be a conflict.
