Windows xp -can't connect.
PPPoe I can connect to yahoo.com but can't go anywhere else. with
pppoe, i can't get mail with outlook. the names for
mailhost.col.ameritech.net are invalid.
Linksys router( I have tried 3) let me connect with windows 2000.
Linksys shows ip address for dns of 67.36.13.26 and 66.73.20.40. I
tried 151.164.1.1 and 206.13.28.12;206.141.195.204 and 206.141.192.60.
am using windows 2000 to write this.
Basically I can't connect using windows xp. Tech support after 3 hours
on item 34376395 that I have to call microsoft to either re-install
windows xp or delete/replace the windows socket files.

I have used the Linksys router for 3 1/2 years( yes I have upgrade the
bios) and windows xp since it came out.
How do I correct this?
thanks

Do you have a non-MS firewall product installed in WXP?
I saw one posting where zone unnamed FW product was
blocking DNS access. In my case, it was ZoneAlarm. I had
to change my ZA config to place the IP addresses of the DNS
servers in the ZA "Trusted Zone".
