Sorry...I cannot explain the error...but you may have
a corrupted source file or a compatibility issue.

See the following article:

Movie Maker - Problem Solving -
'Can't Save A Movie'

or
http://www.papajohn.org/MovieMaker-Issues-CantSaveMovie.html

Large complex projects are prone to causing problems.
If you create several smaller projects and save each one
in the .wmv movie format in a folder on your hard drive
you can then import the collected movie clips into Movie
Maker and combine them into a final movie.

I have the same problem. It stops at some percentage, and just stops. Why
would you (Microsoft) sell us a junk program that is "PRONE TO CAUSE
PROBLEMS" in the first place? I had to use another program to make the movie.
Why did I have to do that? It was a free to DL. And it WORKED!

Just wondering...what's the name of the program that worked for you?

"sothink" movie maker. You can upgrade to the pro version, but the free one
worked perfectly.
