Dropping Network Connection

We just set up a new Server 2003 network and have four WindowsXP pro machines
accessing the server. Two of the computers were upgraded from XP Home
edition. We are running active directory and the server is the DNS and DHCP
server. We have a Linksys router as the gateway.
When a given computer running Windows XP sits for a while, even if someone
is using it, the computer loses the connection to the network; you cannot
save to the server or access anything to do with the network. Also, when you
log off at night and log back on in the morning a lot of times you have to
restart the machine, then it's fine. When you log off then logon again, or
sometimes you have to restart the computer you have access again. We have
tried disabling, "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
in the properties of the nic, to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thank you for the quick response,
It is not just a mapped drive issue, it has to do more with losing
authentication. We are basically having to log off and log back in again.
After which if you are working on a document for say 2 1/2 hours and go to
save to the network share access is denied. You cannot get anywhere out of
the local machine. You would have to save to the local machine, re-logon then
save to the network share.

Help..

XP Home don't append to domain servers, but can map to a file server. If
lost the connection can be a DNS bad resolve -the stations must shut to
the local DNS server, not to the DNS of the ISP-
