Dropping my connection

Can anyone shed any light on my problem ? When I brought my latest computer it was installed with windows xp.. great I thought until I tried to log onto the internet and keep getting a "you just ignored an incoming call - press ok" message appearing (in a grey box in the top left hand side of the screen). I contacted BTOpenWorld who were at that time my ISP.. they talked me through various things (call minder being switched off, settings on my machine) but to no avail this still happens.. I decided to change my ISP in the hope that the problem was their end but alas it is still happening... I have a dedicated line for the internet and NO ONE knows the number so there isn't anyone trying to call me.. Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening ? This is driving us mad now as everytime the message appears our connection to the internet is lost and we have to redial... very frustrating.. any ideas/solutions would be brillant.

This may be a feature of your modem's driver if your modem supports V.92 or
modem-on-hold/call waiting. (What sort of modem are you using?)
