Dropping frames using Raid and TV-Wonder PCI

Has anyone experience poor video capture using ATA raid (Promise Fast Track)
and the ATI TV-Wonder? I have read somewhere that the PCI bus is saturated
by the transfer for the RAID but there must be a work around.

I have two drives 80G each striped.

Jeff,

I am running an AIW 8500 (128Mb) card and a stripped RAID on an Abit
KR7A-RAID mainboard. Anytime I try to capture to AVI, I will typically get
dropped frames (AthlonXP 2400+ with 512Mb RAM). Capturing to MPG2 will
typically yield no dropped frames. Maybe you're on to something regarding
bus saturation.

I get dropped frames on MPEG2 as well. But my card is pci with no ram. Do
you know if the AIW buffers using the ram?

To add to this discussion. I have a Dual 1.4 P3s with 768MB of ram. Both
cpu's get used in the capture process and it captures fine to the drive on
the regular IDE chain. I can capture video at 720x480 at a rate of 6000 but
I can't even do a video cd on the raid setup.

Jeff,

I don't know but I would be really surprised if it did. My understanding is
the the video card RAM was merely for storing textures for 3D.
