Dropped USB flash drive, CAN I RECOVER IT?

Hello, I stupidly dropped my USB flash drive, and it's not working
anymore. When I connected it to the USB port, the led light turns on as


usual for a split second, then it fades down to a softer light and the
drive's not detected by WinXP ProSP2. It is only detected after several



times that I unplug and plug it back on. But even though, 1the device
is not recognized and no driver is installed.


I really want to recover the data on it. Is there any way I can do
without sending it to those DATA RECOVERY people that charge $400 to
$1000 for recovering you data???? Or is it lost for ever????
I hope someone has a miraculous solution!!!


Someone recommended me to open it to pieces, and try to use an
soldering iron put back together some loose pieces. how hard would
that be to do it bymyself (having no experience on soldering)? thanks.

Very hard to use that as your first attempt at soldering.

The local TV service monkey etc might well be able
to resolder what has got broken quite cheaply tho.

There likely is none, as usual.

Very hard. You very likely would make matters worse.
And you would possibly have to spend several hundred $$ to get
the appropriate tools first.

Face it: $400-$1000 is not much for some hours of professional
work.
