I just returned to my home office from a business trip, and now
every 2 minutes my VPN connection drops. Here's what I've tried:
Called cable company to check function of line - they don't see any
problems.
Changed network cables - no change, still drops at 2 minutes.
Tried a wireless connection on the same network - no change, still
drops at 2 minutes.
Put a new laptop on the network and connected to same VPN, this new PC
stays connected without issue.
Tried a different customer VPN, still drops on problem PC, stays
connected on other PC.
Bypassed router by connecting directly to cable modem, no change,
still drops.
Gave the problem PC a static IP in the router, no change.
Everything worked fine as of Sunday night. I was at a customers
site all week connected internally to their network with no issues.
Back on my PC yesterday and my VPN connection drops every 2 minutes
on this machine, connecting to the same network that I was connected
to internally during the week. Because of the steps I tried, the
problem seems to be specific to this "problem pc".
IBM ThinkPad, T60P, XP professional, using IBM ThinkVantage access
connections.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Darren
