When I delete a folder from "My Contacts" it still
appears in the drop down lists associated with
the "Address Book", the "To" and "CC" buttons in "New
Mail Message", and other places. I now have a whole list
of folders in these drop down menus which cannot be
accessed (they have already been deleted from "My
Contacts"). When I click on one of them, I get this
message: "The address list could not be displayed. The
contacts folder associated with this address list could
not be opened; it may have been deleted or you do not
have permissions. For information on how to remove this
folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft
Outlook Help." I have searched using all the variations
of this error message that seem reasonable, but I cannot
resolve this problem. I now have a whole bunch of folder
names here that drop down and are useless. In fact if I
create a Contact List with a certain name, then delete
it, and keep doing that, the same name will appear in
these drop down menus as many times as I go through this
process. In the drop down menus (mentioned at the
beginning) I have the same folder name (or contact list/
contact folder whatever) repeated over and over. For
example, in my efforts to get my "Family" contact list
from a previous account to appear in these drop down
menus, I had to create a folder called "Family2", then
copy all of the entries from "Family" to "Family2", then
delete "Family", then rename "Family2" to "Family". In
my cautiousness to not let these entries get deleted I
went ahead and made a "Family3" and "Family4" folder and
copied there as well. Once I was sure that the entires
in the renamed folder ("Family2" becomes "Family") were
appearing in the "To" or "CC" dialog, I deleted the
others. Now all of these names appear in the "To", "CC",
and other Address Book drop down menus. In fact some of
the entries appear repetitively (because I repeated the
creation of "Family2" more than once). Now these menus
are very ugly...HELP!!! Sorry for being so verbose and
thanks for reading this far.
