Need help.....An ISP software that I was using has left a drop down menu in
my IE 6.x. The Menu item is under the VIEW menu, TOOLBARS, The item is of
no value and I would like to delete it out of this menu. The ISP provider
refuses to assist. Can someone provide steps to take to delete the Menu
item?

Thank you for your response.

I did download and install Toolbarcop. I ran Toolbarcop.....what opened was
a list. Before I proceeed I want to be sure I explained myself clearly.
When I left Click the VIEW Menu in IE 6.x it opens a menu list....when I
highlite TOOLBARS, another menu list opens. In this opened Menu list there
is a Menu item, lets call it XXX, that is in this menu twice. One of the XXX
does function properly the other does not and I assume was left there by a
poor uninstall of the ISP's uninstall program. I had tried to Uninstall and
re-install the ISP software thinking both XXX would be removed in the Menu
list and the re-install would only re-install "1" XXX. The Uninstall only
removed "1" XXX...not Both. So again, I have two of the XXX, one is useless,
it does nothing.

Is this Toolbarcop software still the program I need to use to delete the
"Useless" second XXX menu item?

When the Toolbarcop opened, the list containe 4 item shown as XXX. Should I
uninstall the ISP spftware then re-run Toolbarcop and if any of the XXX are
shown, delete all of them? Then re-install the ISP Software?

If this is not the way to proceed, what would be the best way to proceed.
Thank You

Dennis

Hi,
That sounds like a good plan to me. You know that reinstalling the ISP
software will reinstall the item, so you have nothing to lose. Give it a
try.

I agree with Don's advice.
Another question is: "Do you need this ISP software? Can you uninstall it?"
Because I suspect that isn'ta good program.

Cheers,

I am still using the ISP Service, but they refused to assist me in deleting
the Duplicated Menu item......because they will not guide me thru the steps
in the Registry to Delete the Duplicate Menu item.

You have been very helpful, and I can read between the lines, but I will
feel more comfortable proceedting with the conformation that Toolbarcop is
designed to Remove Menu items in IE 6.x. I was hoping toolbarcop would open
listing the same Menus as you see in IE and under those Menus you would see
all the sub Menus in the same order...and it would be as easy as high Liting
the menu item to delete it......

denmarfl,

You could try disabling one of those two toolbars, and open IE. This way you
can determine the invalid one (trial and error). Also, generate a log file
(Click the "notepad" icon in the ToolbarCop top most toolbar) and post the
contents here. We would like to know if there are two different CLSIDs
involved.

Thank You, I know which Menu item is invalid. The two menu items that are
duplicated under VIEW/Toolbars......is Zerobar. The Second Zerobar menu item
is the one that is invalid because when you click on nothing happens.
Whereas when you click on the 1st inline Menu item Zerobar, a Tool Bar opens
in IE........

denmarfl,

I understood that. The log file should give clearer information (both CLSIDs
or only one are listed?).

Two different CLSIDs are there. So I'd try this:

Disable these two items temporarily, using ToolbarCop.

Toolbar: ZeroBar - {F5735C15-1FB2-41FE-BA12-242757E69DDE} - C:\Program
Files\NetZero\toolbar.dll - Enabled - Current User
Toolbar: ZeroBar - {F5735C15-1FB2-41FE-BA12-242757E69DDE} - C:\Program
Files\NetZero\toolbar.dll - Enabled - All Users

Open IE, and see if the invalid one is gone. If not, enable the above two
items back, and disable the following two items:

Toolbar: ZeroBar - {F0F8ECBE-D460-4B34-B007-56A92E8F84A7} - C:\Program

I hope I can explain the results so you will understand....

When I disabled the two F573.....then opened IE, under VIEW/Toolbars...only
one Zerobar appeared. When I clicked on, nothing happened. This menu item
when it is working properly toggles on and off a Toolbar.

I then Enabled the two F573 items, Closed IE and disabled the two
FOF...items. Opened IE, VIEW/Toolbars....again only one ZeroBar appeared.
When I clicked on it nothing happened.

I then disabled all 4 ....re-opened IE, VIEW/Toolbars....NO Zerobar menu
ites appeared.

I then Enabled all 4 again, re-opened IE.....there were the two Zerobar menu
items and when I clicked on the 1st one.....it toggled the Zerobar on and off
on my IE. When I clicked on the Second Zerobar, nothing happened.

Is this strange or not?

Should I go ahead and delete the ISP Software that ZeroBar is associated
with, and was created by the ISP's software install. Then run Toolbarcop,
delete any Zerobar entries I see.... Then of course, I would re-install the
ISP Software........

Sounds like a good idea to me. If after reinstallation, the same thing
happens, then NetZero should be able to answer why the two GUIDs are
inter-dependant on each other ?

<kibbitz>

You'll want to *Uninstall* NetZero via Add/Remove Programs and reboot. If
its program folder persists (C:\Program Files\*NetZero*), delete it.

AFAIK you cannot use NetZero as your no- or low-cost ISP without installing
the NetZero software, and you cannot install the software without installing
the toolbar, pop-up stopper and the image resolution handler (appres.dll),
whatever it is.
