When I start to write the name of one of my contacts in the "TO" space of an
email, a drop down menu appears with additonal names I've never heard of. How
do I delete these additional names so that these strangers don't
inadvertently receive confidential information if I accidentally chose the
wrong name in haste?

Post your Outlook version when you post questions.
I'll assume it is a version that supports autocompletion and that you are
not talking about autoresolution. If so, remove individual addresses from
the autocompletion cache by highlighting the entry when presented in the
suggested names list (use your arrow key to migrate to the entry) and then
hitting your Delete key before you tab out of the field. To clear the entire
cache, follow the instructions here:

Thankyouthankyouthankyou. Now that you describe the scroll and delete method,
it seems so simple. And now that you give me esoteric information as to how
to delete the whole list, I'm very glad that I didn't just stop when I felt
really dumb in asking the questions. Thank you for taking the time to help me.
