I downloaded and paid for music that I wanted to add to the pictures I was
using to make a slideshow. When I try to add the music I am told that it
cannot be used due to Digital Rights Management. Is there any way to get
round this problem?

Thank you for your reply. I am finding this quite complicated and will need to read through this a few times to fully understand what I need to do. I downloaded this music directly to my computer from the Woolworths site and it seems as though I might need to burn it to a CD and then save it again in a different format. I'll study this some more and then give it a go - all very new to me.

That's correct.

First, you must burn the protected files to an unprotected format, like
CD.

Then, you "rip" the CD to, say, MP3 files, which are unprotected and
can be freely imported.

It's just part of the silly dance that DRM imposes on legitimate users.

Thanks for your help but, unfortunately, I seem to have come across another problem already. I cannot get to burn any of my music - even those that I have managed to burn to a CD on previous occasions. (I cannot remember whether I have burnt any music CD's since I've had this computer). I have tried to do this using Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 and also tried using Windows XP.

I also had a look to see whether I had agreed that Windows Media Player
could obtain licences for music I downloaded. I have not asked for this
option but I cannot seem to stop it from doing this.

I will keep trying but am unsure where to look to see what is causing me
this problem.

Maybe the method of recording the
music using Movie Maker would be
an alternative for you.

In the right column of the following
article (under comments) you will find
simple instructions on how to use
Movie Maker to record the music and
save it as a .wma file. Then you can
import the .wma file into PhotoStory.

Thanks for all your help - I have now managed to get my music on to a CD so that I can play it anywhere and have also been able to use it in the photo story. A really useful exercise - thanks again.
