First, I try to find a file that I know is on the computer (fsx.cfg) and it
will not find it no matter what I change in the search field. Second, I found
by accident the folder it is in but when I try to access the folder it tells
me 'denied' even tho I change the access rules to all users. Whoever wrote
this piece of **** ought to be fired.

Dear Muzz,

CFG files are not indexed by default. To index them, open Idexing Options in
Control Panel, Advanced, File types, navigate to CFG and check the checkbox
next to it. Then rebuild the index. However, there might be an easier
solution. I suspect the FSX.CFG file in question is the MS FlySim config
file, and you are trying to open the path from this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555739. On Vista this path would be
something like C:\users\Muzz\appdata\roaming\microsoft\fsx\fsx.cfg, you
should be able to navigate there fine.

As for opening the directory mentioned in the article, "Documents and
Settings" and "Application Data" folders (and a few others) are not actual
directories any more, you can't open them no matter what the access rights
are. They are there at all for backward compatibility reasons, sorry for
confusion. We did make them hidden by default.

Thanks,
Ilia
