I've suddenly developed an error message at start-up on my Win2K
partition:

The message pops up just before the desktop is loaded and says:

"The drive or network connection that the shortcut DriveSelect.lnk
refers to is unavailable"

I cancel it, the system runs fine all my drives seem to be OK. I had
thought it might refer to a network mapped drive by I don't recall
creating one and I can't find anything in that area.

Any ideas what I can do about this? I really just wan't to get rid of
the pop-up if there's no other damage being done.

Check your startup folder for any programs that shouldn't be there or even
that link specifically. Failing that, if you're comfortable in the registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
These are the keys for programs that start upon login. Delete what you don't
want/need.
Make sure you make a backup of the registry first.

If you're not comfortable in the registry, you can get a copy of msconfig
(or copy one from an XP machine) and use that to modify your startup.

Thanks, Ken. Found it in the startup folder ... recognised it ....
know how it happened.
