Drives Starting and Stopping

CHANGE USERNAME TO westes

I have a D: drive on a Windows 2003 Server system where the hard drive is
stopping after some period of inactivity, and then auto restarts the next
time I access D:. It then times out and stops again.

Is this new behavior in Windows 2003? My Windows 2000 Servers don't do
this.

You should change power settings in
1) Power Management item inside Start/Settings/Control Panel menu
2) ACPI or APM settings inside Your BIOS setup.
