drives not mapping

I run 2000 server sp4, xp pro sp1. I have been having a
few issues where user's network drives are not mapping,
it is not a security, or login script issue because if
they log out and log back in it usually maps it. I am
wondering could this be caused by a 10mbps bottleneck? I
have 30 computers in a computer lab, 100mbps backbone but
then it gets knocked down to 10mbps to the computers. If
you watch the LEDs on the switch it has constant
collisions. Could it just be a bad switch too? Any other
thoughts? There is nothing in the server's event logs
relating to this.

If it only happens on the initial boot then you might check to see if
spanning tree is enabled on that switch. If it is then disable it and see
if the problem goes away. There's some more information on this in
knowledge base article 202840 - A Client Connected to an Ethernet Switch May
Receive Several Logon-Related Error Messages During Startup
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;202840).
