I really know nothing about computers. However, the soon to be X does. I just recieved my computer back from him and installed XP on it because when I first booted it it said that I needed a system disk. I had none. Reinstalled 98, however was unable to ascertain drivers for my graphics, so XP was able to give me that. Well the problem is today I have been trying to install a program that won't even get started off. So, went into the device manager and found that "No drivers are installed for this device", and these are as follows
Direct Memory access controlle
Motherboard resource
Numeric data processo
Programmable interupt controlle
System boar
System speake
System time

Manufacturer - Standard system device
Location - On via Tech PCI to ISA bridg
Device usage - enabl

Do I need these? How do I find them? Can someone please help? I am literally a dumb blonde when it comes to computers and obviously the X knew what he was doing. Also having problems with NT Authority and how do I know if a fire wall is installed. Or do you think I just need to take this system to an expert. PLEASE HELP

Hi there, If your computer is shutting down and restarting, you probably
have the blaster worm. You should have switched on your firewall before
connection to the internet. It only takes a few seconds to get infected. Too
late now, but you need also a good virus programme. The following is from
MVP Ramesh.

"Your system is infected by RPC (W32.Blaster) Worm. This is causing the
system to shutdown abnormally.

CAUSE: You have not enabled the firewall while browsing the internet and not
patched the system with latest Microsoft WindowUpdate hotfixes.

The cryptic part about "X", I gather, is someone who was working on your PC.
Based on that, it appears "X" did not inform you about XP hardware
requirements or research same on your PC.
Yes, you need the components mentioned for effective operation.

Maybe your soon to be "X" really messed it up good for you. Might tell your
Lawyer about it and tell him you want it fixed by your soon to be
"X".......... This guy sounds like he is a little "put off" by the "soon to
be part".
