Drivers that treat 8 channel audio as 4 individual stereo outs?

Just curious. A PC with 8 channel audio should be capable of producing four
seperate stereo output, and make an audio hub for my home, as I have four
audio zones wired throughout the house.

Are there any drivers/software/etc. that would allow me to have four
independant stereo streams though a single 8 channel audio interface?

No... I expect too much from the drivers for a $5 chip (probably 50cents,
actually)

....but, anyone able to write hardware drivers could write a virtual sound
card driver that then drove the audio of the real sound chip.

....plus, I am currently awaiting my $150 AuzenTech soundcard, which supports
7.1.

The drivers will be the main problem but I'd also wonder if
the sub out is a full range output or low-pass. Also if you
were thinking of doing this with analog, it's not good to
string that long distances, it'll degrade quality.
