I recently bought a new lap top (Targa) which came with
windows xp home edition already installed. It also came
with a 32mb external memory stick. I want to use the
memory stick in conjunction with my existing pc (which is
not a lap top, but has a tower)transfering data from one
pc tot he other. The older pc has windows 98 installed.
The problem is that the older pc is telling me it does not
have a driver to recognise the new external memory divice -
0 so what can I do?

How can I get the correct driver and what will it be
called? I have a zip drive with the older pc and that
works fine from the usb port so why won't the new memory
stick do the same.

Go to the website of the Memory stick manufacturer and look there.. I would
have looked for you, but you mentioned no make.. also, Win 98 was released
before this kind of memory was available.. it is hardly suprizing,
therefore, that Win 98 doesn't recognize it.. I assume that you also believe
this to be a failing in Win XP.. oh well..

First you need to be running Windows 98 with the service
releases applied to enable the USB ports.

Then go to the manufacture site for the Memory Stick and
download the drivers they have for the stick that are
designed for Win98.

Follow the instructions to install the drivers in your 98
box.
