I am runnung XP Pro and recently tried to install a DVD-ram drive. I get a
unable to find the necessary software. However the device manager shows the
drive without a triangle !. I have installed this drive in another computer
without a problem so I know it's not the drive. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

I neglected to mention that I have been working with microsoft without
success. I sent a system nfo file and was told that the driver was intact and
not corrupted.

Try opening device mgr, expand the tree for the drive,R.click, select, update
driver,
let xp run in auto.If that doesnt help,R.click, select uninstall, close
out,shutdown
pc.Move the drive to another IDE connection, make sure the jumper pin is set
accordingly (master or slave),start pc,xp will reinstall it.

Here's a post I found on the subject:

"I had a similar problem after plugging in a generic usb 2.0 hub to my
Dell dimension 4500 (WinXP home, SP2) and "wizard cannot find the
necessary software". Fortunately, Google found an answer for me in
http://redcl0ud.1.forumer.com/a/xbcd-not-finding-gamepad_post385-15.html
which suggested the problem was due to a file called usb.inf missing
from c:\Windows\inf. I found a file of the same name in c:\i386, copied
it to c:\Windows\inf, and that fixed the problem: next time I plugged in
the hub, the wizard found the drivers.

Dolphin3900"

Thank you for responding Andrew I really appreciate it. I have tried
everything that you suggested all ready with the same end. I neglected to say
I'm am using a T30 IBM laptop so not sure if I can reassign it. This is not a
USB device but integrated into the system. I wish to thank everyone thats
