Driver update denied

When I attempt to update any printer driver or add a new
printer, I get a message saying "Printer driver was not
installed. Access is denied".

I am the Administrator and sole user of my stand-alone
Dell Dimension 8200 system running Windows 2000, SP4.

Can anyone tell me how to repair my permissions or
otherwise solve this printer driver update problem?

Thank you.

check the security on the BUD files in
\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3

You can delete the BUD files and stop , restart the spooler and they will be
recreated.

Also verify the admin permissions in \windows\system32\spool\drivers

Thanks, Alan. It was the permissions. The Drivers folder
didn't show me as Administrator.
