Driver problem

Hello there. The last few days I have been having driver(s) problems.
Sometimes the system just freezes and I have to reboot. Sometimes it reboots
all by itself. When it does it itself it tells me after reboot that I have a
problem with an unsigned driver. I haven't installed any that I am aware of
unless it came from the windows update site. It also doesn't tell me what
driver or drivers are the problem. Any help on this issue would be greatly
appreciated as I don't know anything about how to find the offending digit or
how to fix it. Thanks. Kevin. PS. I am using windows xp sp2 home edition.

First, dont install drivers from Update site. Always go to your manuf. site and
download from there.

To see where is the problem, open device manager :
Start > Run > devmgmt.msc

If there is a problem with a driver, its category should be atomatically expanded and
there will be a exclamation mark. Double click a driver like that and see the error
code and problem.

Hello there. Thanks for the reply. I tried your solution but nothing had an exclamation mark beside it. Odd considering windows stated a couple of times after auto rebooting that an unsigned driver was the problem. It never says which one or gives an error code though. If you check this message again can you think of another avenue of attack on the problem? Thanks again.

Maybe before the system reboots by itself, there is a flash of blue screen and you
miss it. If there is a blue screen, it will tell you useful info. To see Blue Screen
:
Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > 3rd Settings button > Uncheck "Automatic
restart" > CLick OK

There will info of the problem in Event Viewer :
Start > Run > eventvwr
It should be in System section named Error with X icon. Read it by double clicking
it.

It looks like an actual hardware problem if it is rebooting spontaneously.
Does it tell you which driver it is having problems with?

Hello there. As I stated in my original question, no it does not give me an
error code or driver name. It reboots automatically giving me no time to see
if there is an error message or not. I tried using the solution Ayush
provided. That is turning off the auto reboot on error feature of windows but
the problem hasn't happened again as yet. It mainly happens when I play the
game Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. As I said before, it can reboot or just
freeze up my computer. The last several tries have only caused freezes which
made me have to reboot. I'll keep trying to see if I can get the problem to
happen again. Thanks for the help.

Right click My Computer and select Properties. Go to the Advanced tab and
click Settings in the Startup and recovery section. Uncheck Automatically
restart. The next time it happens you'll get a blue screen with more
information.
