I recently re-formatted a hard drive and I lost the
driver for an old (1992) ethernet card: SMC 8013WC. From
searching on the web, I think the driver I need is
SMCMAC.EXT. How would I get hold of this driver?

Hi Brian -

Microsoft has a Windows XP driver available for your card at Windows Update.

Go to Windows Update. If you don't have Windows Update Catalog under "See
Also", click on Personalize Windows Update and check the box after "Display
the link to Windows Update Catalog under See Also" and save your setting.

Then, under See Also, click Windows Update Catalog.

Click on Find Driver Updates.

Click on Networking.

In the scroll list, highlight SMC Networks Inc.

Select your Operating System in the pulldown and click Search.

In the results returned, look for "SMC Networks network software update
released on March 07, 2002 (Posted Date: October 09, 2003)". Click on
Supported Hardware to verify you have the right driver for your SMC 8013WC.

Download the update to your computer and run file to install the driver.

Good luck!

Jef
