Driver files - Delete?

I have just downloaded an updated driver for my sound card. Can I delete the
folder with all the files in once it is installed? It contains various
language and Windows versions. My logic (!) is that the required files have
been put into the operating system.

That all depends on which folder w/files your talking about, if it's a temp
file where they were extracted from a compressed file you downloaded, then yes
although the installer should have removed them.

If it is the folder w/files the install created, no you can't unless you wish
to reinstall the drivers again.

Without knowing exactly what folder w/files and where it's located and
what/who created it, it's a 50/50 crap shoot for a definitive answer.

Its the files that I unzipped and placed in a convenient directory. When I
re-installed my sound player (SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio) - I pointed
to this directory for the driver and it installed. Could I quarantine the
directory somehow as the download is very slow.

AFAIK at least for Intel boards when SoundMax is installed using the extracted
exe, it creates a folder "c:\program files\intel" or "c:\program files\intel
audio studio" that contains the files. The way you did it by pointing to the
folder I don't believe creates another folder, yet that's not an issue and you
can safely delete the extracted folder/files. To be safe rename the main folder
by changing a letter or so with underscores, reboot and check out your audio.
If all goes well you know you can delete the folder files.
