Driver compatability

I recently upgraded to Windows XP Pro from Windows 98.
A Pacific Image Prime Film 1800 series film slide scanner
worked ok with Win 98 but will not operate with XP. Keep
getting error message when trying to istall from original
disc "Cannot compress" I understand I nee different
drivers Can you help?
 
Have you looked at the Pacific Image Prime Film web site to see if perhaps
their tech support might not have driver updates? Have you tried 98
compatibility mode in XP? Can you install in SafeMode (worth an effort,
though something's will not install in safe mode.)
