After defragmenting my primary drive, the driver.cab file
represents nearly ~35% of the remaining fragmentation. I
understand the purpose of the file, however, I was
wondering if I could: 1. copy the file to another device,
2. delete the file from its spot on the drive
3. run another defrag to recover the space
4. reload the file
Is this advisable or would doing so cause problems with the
registry and/or other elements of the OS?
The other main area of fragmentaion is the cntcd1.mmw file.
\program files\Microsoft Office\media\CntCD1\cntcd1.mmw
This file exists on the Office Media cd appear to be the
same size/date. Basically, the same questions apply - Can
I delete, defrag, and reload without complications?
Thanks
