Windows XP Professional has stopped recognizing my floppy
drive A. Any recommendations for correcting this?

check the cables, make sure BIOS recognizes it...if not, replace it.
if BIOS recognizes the floppy and u can boot from it...try removing it from
Device Manager, reboot (or search for new hardware).

i have the same problem and haven't solved it yet.
replaced drive/cable already. deleted controller from the
system manager, then reboot. same problem afterwards.
winXP DEFINITELY has some problem regarding floppy drives.

Is the floppy drive shown in Windows Explorer at all? Does it light
up? Also, if you've been inside your computer, is there any chance
that you might have loosened a ribbon?

When it kept saying: "Please insert a disk into drive A", all I did was to
flip over the ribbon connector to the floppy drive and the problem was
solved.
