I'm having a problem getting my wd 250gb drives' size properly
recognized in xp pro. My board, Asus p5gd1 shows 250gb but xp
shows it as 131gb. I partitioned the drive to have 40gb in c:
but still end up with 131gb total for both partitions. The drive
is a sata2.Can anyone help me? It's an ntfs file system. Btw, my
xp pro doesn't have sp1 or sp2 on it.

I suspect that is your problem, I believe it took at least sp1 and
possibly 2 to give access to drives over 128gb, get the service pack
like you should've done a long time ago.

You should slipstream SP2 into your install CD, this will allow the OS
to see all of the drive. It's easy to do, legal, and interesting. The
only cost: a blank CD.

Well, there ya go. You don't have >132GB drive support.

It's just your lack of SP1/2. I forget which one it is, but like Davi
and Chris said, you need one of them in order for the system t
support drives over 130GiB or so. Just go download the service packs
and all should be well

XP will only recognize up to 137 GB of harddrive space. To fix this you
have to install either SP1or SP2. There is no other way around it.
