I was setting up HDValet, got in a hurry and deleted everything on both
my main harddrive and my backup drive. When I've tried using Drive
Rescue to recover my backup drive I can't find all of my data and most
of what I have found is corrupt. Any other programs that I can try or
does anyone have any suggestions?

Tried both neither worked. File Recovery gave me a "Access violation at
address 004BD159 in module 'Filerecovery.exe. Read of address 000000.30"
I'm using win xp home installed on original main drive & trying to
recover from backup drive that hasen't been written to since deletion of
data.

Did you delete the partiton table? Then you shouldn't search for single
files, but the partition itself, by using a Linux tool or Resqdisk from
www.invircible.com (a patiton restorer for harddisks which have been
overwritten on the partition table, eg by a virus).

But both Drive Rescue 1.9d? and File Recovery Tool 3.0
CAN recover deleted partition
( author claims/ I never had to try it.)

By the way, both looks like two skins of the same software,
not sure about function difference.

Both have three main modes:
1) just deleted file with still
"question marked" valid folder data -"work for me"

2) FilesDeleted directories - finding lost directories
in free space, then lost files
-"work for me too, but my heart has run faster"

3) Lost partition, master boot records etc.
Search physical disk for boot sector patterns.
should work...

Maybe the best would be mounting as secondary disk
at your friend ( or at you, if can ),
run these utilities and saving data in good disk.
then copy all them to your one.

Good Luck

Never had any trouble finding the partition just that the majority of
the data was corrupt. Gave up on it and used norton Ghost to clone my
rebuilt main drive to that back up drive. Have lost some data but
nothing that will kill me. Not sure why I had so much trouble with this
as I used Drive Rescue several times before to retrieve files I had
accidently deleted. I also tried the PC Inspector Smart Recovery program
to try and recover the media files and it didn't work either. Ended up
with some 75+ meg jpeg files that never existed before and were corrupt.
Any way be VERY sure on how you set up HDValet to clean your drive or it
will REALLY clean them!

I use JV16 Powertools temporary files deletion
( means of course what I mean temporary ),
it cleans to recycle bin on demand.
