Drive partitions

My hard drive is partitioned into C and D drives. The C drive is the
operating drive, but has only been assigned 7GB, which is now pretty much
full, whereas the D drive still has 20 GB of space. I've tried deleting or
moving what I can from the C drive, but it has made no difference. When I
explore the C drive, I can't understand why it is so full, as there doesn't
appear to be much on there. What is the best thing to do? Can I assign more
space to the C drive, or is there someway of removing stuff from the C drive
that I haven't yet found?!

My computer is on such a go slow now, that I don't know what to do! I have
also been trying to download Service Pack 2 for ages, but there isn't enough
space.
Any help would be very much appreciated!

I have another problem too I am afraid. The computer came preinstalled with
Office XP Professional. I kept getting a message to insert the CDrom
"Microsoft Office XP Professional with Frontpage". 1. I never had the disk
and the company I bought the computer from has now gone bust. 2. As far as I
know, I never had Frontpage. 3. Because the disk was an OEM, Microsoft won't
give me another disk. In desperation, as I couldn't read any of my docs etc,
I have deleted Office XP and borrowed a copy of Office Pro 2003 from a
friend. I can now read everything, but it's not formatted the same. Any
suggestions?

7GB is a little low and you would probably need something like partition
magic (which you would have to buy) to shrink the D drive and then extend
the C: drive. The procedure is more complex to explain than it is to
actually do. However, one thing you might look at is system restore. It
maybe that system restore has so many points saved that that is taking up
considerable room on your hard drive. Other things include temporary
internet files, cookies etc. If your machine is working fine then try
disabling system restore in order to clear the restore points and grab back
the space. Go to control panel>system and in system properties click the
system restore tab. Click your mouse in the box next to the 'turn off system
restore on all drive' option then click OK. Once the restore points have
been removed you can remove the tick mark to turn system restore on again.

As for temporary internet files, cookies, history etc you could use the
freeware software ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com) to clear out these and other
files. You should be aware that if you use internet banking and store
details on your pc ccleaner will clear these out to.

Along with what John said make sure that you empty your recycle bin. Even
though you deleted files they are still taking up space if they are still
in the recycle bin.
