We have an exisitng database and since our server crashed I can't get it to work I keep getting a "Drive or network error" message. I'm sure it is a "path" kind of thing. There are two file - one has the forms and the other has the tables. I have looked at teh Control Source in teh one with teh forms and it tells me that the source controsl are wrong - but I don't have the slightest how to fix this.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,

My name is Amy Vargo. Thank you for using the Microsoft Access Newsgroups.

I am not sure what version of Access you have. If it is Access 2000 or
higher, you will need to apply the latest Jet update. I included a link
to an article below.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please

Amy,

Tahnks for getting back to me. I am not sure what version the database was created in. It is/was on a Win2k server. The old server crashed and I had to rebuild a new one and reset all the shares. Now when we try to access the databse we get the "drive or network" error. The workstations accessing the database have not changed (except possibly the drive mapping). The Jet version on the server is ver from SP7.

I am unsure how the jet update will fix this issue - especially since the old serve rdid not have the jet updates on it. I didn't know it needed it so I didn't install it. Could you explain please?

Thanks
BJ

Is Citrix or Novell involved? If so, make sure you have the latest
updates. I saw an issue where the Novell Client for Windows XP v4.91 was
causing a problem with locking database files which caused the data or
network error.

Novell came out with a new patch called v4.91a that fixed the problem.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
