I just installed VCom System Commander and suddenly, I cannot see me 2nd
hard drive, Disc Management indicates that the drive is active, however, it
is classified an an unknown partition with no drive letter and does not
appear in windows explorer.

I uninstalled the program, tried to restore the system to an earlier
checkpoint, rebooted all in vain.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Dennis

The system worked fine until you added a boot manager. Sounds like the boot
manager forgot to update the information about your second partition. XP
can still see it but as an "unknown" it can't use it. This should be
fixable but how I'm not sure... everything I found at the MS Knowledge Base
about "unknown" partitions wasn't applicable because those articles don't
take third party boot managers into consideration.

If I'm reading VCom's support pages right, System Commander alters the
boot.ini file. It's also possible it has "dinged" mounted devices in the
registry. This article looked like it might be helpful:

Sorry for that awful URL!

If you don't think that's the right plan of attack (it very well may not
be), you'll need to contact VCom Support.

If you are unable to work out the problem with VCom, you might consider a
different boot manager. One that I've used (highly recommended and well
supported) is BootIt NG (BING for short) from
