Hi,
just installed winxp on my new computer. I don't have a 1.44 floppy A:
Drive, and I have disabled seek floppy drive in the Bios. When window shuts
down, I keep getting error messages 2 in fact, saying: Drive not ready for
use A: drive, check the draw is not open........then I have to select
Cancel, Contiue or Try again, what do I do to get rid of this message.
Your help appreciated
Regards
Bob

It's probably a program and not Windows checking for the presence of a
floppy disk.

My guess: Some antivirus programs have a setting to check the floppy drive
at shutdown. This is to avoid infecting the computer at the next startup
with a virus or boot sector virus that resides on the floppy disk.

At one time, the most common source of virus infection was from floppy
disks. While this is still a possible scenario, it is no longer the most
common mode of infection. Anyhow, check settings in your antivirus program.
If setting for floppy drive is found, disable it.
