I have a Sony CD-RW CRX0811. It is not on the Windows
Compatable list. It burned fine a few weeks ago, but now
it won't. I have not done anything different to my
operating system. I have tried many, many, many
different things to troubleshoot.

Can I work around the compatability problem and use the
unsigned driver in XP?

Please any kind of advice would be appreciated.

What unsigned driver are you referring to?
Normally, IDE devices don't need drivers, either
Microsoft provides the drivers, or the motherboard
chipset may have it's own - such as the VIA 4in1,
etc,etc.
