Hello,
I have Windows 2000 + SP4 for a long time, and finally i want to ask
about that message.

I have one CD writer (Asus CRW-5232AX) on my second ide channel and
reads, writes fine with burning softwares like Nero.

But, when i insert and blank CD-R in to my drive, then if i go to My
Computer - > CD-ROM -> double click on my drive, then i get "Drive not
accessible - incorrect function".

Is that normal? Because i searched all over the net and numerous of
people has that issue with Windows versions.

I have Nero 6.6.0.3 and burning OK.

I just get this message when trying to access with Windows Explorer (My

computer -> CDROM)

Also my CD-RW is shown as CD-ROM in Windows 2000 + SP4.

I want the answer of why does Windows Explorer say "drive not
accessible - incorrect function" if i insert a BLANK cd-r into my drive
and go MY Computer -> CDROM -> Double click manually?

Please help.

Regards.

Yes this is normal, since you are accessing the blank CD from explorer,it
expects a file system to read it and since the blank CD dosn't contain any
file system it can't read and gives an error.

Mine doesn't work that way. If I insert a blank disc and then try to
read from the drive, the drive is seen as empty and I get a message
telling me to insert a disc.
