can somebody tell me, how xpe assigns drive letters, it found some
posts but it seems that my xp behaves differend.
3 partitions:

1. NON DOS - 8MB
2. FAT12 - 8 MB
3. NTFS - 240 MB (active)

i thought that partition 2 gets C: and 3 gets d: but, xp assigns c: to
the third partition. can i rely on this drive letters ?

Hi Gerhard

You have to have a closer look at the BootArcPath in
the BOOT.INI file. During this state of
booting, no drive letters exists. Only direct numbering.
For exaple for your system in the 3. partition:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)

XP-E will take then this partition jumped to as drive C:
and the FAT partition as drive D:.

Wünsche noch eine gute Nacht. :-)

There are many different hardware scenarios, so the best thing is to try.
1. NON DOS - 8MB
2. FAT12 - 8 MB
3. NTFS - 240 MB (active)

As long as you don't add another HDD.
C: partition should remain C: in your case.
Everything else you can reassign using disk manager or some other util/API

Is this 256MB Flash or HDD?
Have you tested to see if your EWF is protecting windows partition?
Have you copied files from HDD to CF?

Check FBA log.

What is first partition 8MB non DOS? What does it mean, EWF partition.
If your disk is only 256 MB, then you don't have space for EWF partition.

at the end it should run on an flash, during fba the whole stuff is on
a HD with nearly the same partition layout.
i already have a working image with ewf on a 256 MB flash, but with
another partition layout.
the first partition is a minix partition with grub and a little
recovery system.

the main difference between the working and the non working image is
the second partition and the fact that partition ordering is different
from drive letter ordering.

while building i run fba on hd, install software, ... and after
running fbreseal, i move the files over to the flash.

240+8+8=256MB

I asked this because I thought that your disk is 256MB because if it was you
don't have space for EWF Partition.

And have you checked FBA log.

Slobodan
