I have over a period used all drive letters, ie A: to Z:. They are all
checked in TweakUI.
K: to N: are no longer needed. Is it possible to make those letters
available again? They are not available in Disk Management.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Allan.

Any drive letters that you are not using at this time can be used again and
again and again.
I fail to see how one can use all letters of the alphabet for drive letters
at the same time in a normal home system.
You check to show them and they will if a drive needs them.
How many drives do you have that you need to go all the way to Z???

Hi Peter,
Thank you for your reply.
I have three drives, one internal & two external USB.
I have never used all of the letters A: to Z: at any one time.
Since my message I have tried repartitioning the drives.
At the moment, the internal drive has letters C:, G:, H:, I:.
One USB drive has S:, T:, U:, V:, W:.
The other USB drive has F:, X:, Y:.
Devices with Removable Storage have A:, D:, E:, J:, N:, O:, P:.
Selecting a partition letter in Disk Management then Change Drive Letter &
Paths allows the letter to be changed to either R: or Z:.
K:, L:, M:, Q: are not available.
I also have Acronis Disk Director Suite installed & that gives exactly the
same results as Disk Management.
Kind regards,
hac1932.

If letters are not availlable but not used for
drives, it may be dead mount points.
You can try to remove them:

mountvol K: /d
mountvol L: /d
....

Hi Uwe,
Thank you so much. They were dead mount points (I'd never heard of those) &
Start>Run>mountvol "Drive letter": /d made K: & L: available again in both
Disk Management & Acronis Disk Director Suite.
Thanking you once again for your solution to my problem,
Best wishes,
hac1932.
