My DVD-RW always changes back to Drive letter E: after I reboot. I go to
disk management and change it to drive letter Z: and it shows it takes the
letter fine, but as soon as I reboot it changes itself back to E: Does
anyone have any Ideas what is going on. I have never had this problem
before.

Thanks, Mike

.This question is a trick question that requires a
little further understanding of the question. By default,
drive letters are assigned by the BIOS not the OS.
Granted that Windows 2000 and above permit the user to
change that and assign the letters within the OS, but
this is an old question. Assume that BIOS is assigning
the drive letters, that was not included as an option.
The only other option that would be valid in this
scenario is the Cable Position. Assuming the drive is
left in the Cable Select position, BIOS would assign the
drive letters based upon their position on the cable.
